Established in 2004. We originally started CovenTree Olde World Market in February 2004 attending various Renaissance Fairs, Music and street Festivals, traveling from here locally to many places including Las Vegas, and San Diego. These shows are fun, and we get to meet wonderful people. Over time we have added Conventions (like Comic-Con International) and Pirate fairs to our list of vending locations. When creating the business name - we were looking for something that would work for the Renaissance time period - and show the variety of goods we carried. Hence the Olde World Market. CovenTree came from my love of nature and both mine and Darren’s spiritual beliefs. Coventry (more historical spelling) is a city (now) in England that was once no more than a crossroads where people would meet to sell their wares. When opening the store, I wanted to be a gathering point or crossroads for those who were interested in learning. (Now Closed - going online) My personal interest in starting the business was two fold: to carry interesting, creative, historical, fantastical, and mystical types of gifts, and to open a store locally someday. That happened in January 2015. At this point the name was “shortened” to CovenTree: Books & Gifts. The store allows for a greater variety of perishable items like candles or oils, gives us the space to offer classes and workshops, and lets me to share my passion of reading by having a much larger selection of books available to our customers. My business partner, from 2004 - 2018, Darren added his love and passion for Ancient History and Cultures to the mix that makes up CovenTree, giving us the ability to share, as much as possible, more culturally and historically accurate information about the items we carry. I learned a great deal from him just listening to all the information he would share with our customers. Darren started working a full-time job for a great company in 2015. He was still trying to attend some of the festivals. Trying to get time off that often during the year is very difficult. So in 2018 we officially decided CovenTree would go sole proprietor.
